Play for all ages

KOMPAN Play institute

Play is the essence of childhood and the spice of adult life.

Through free play children learn about themselves and the world around them, building up their physical, emotional, social, cognitive and creative skills as they go along.

Children play for pleasure. Adults plan for the fact that children play to grow. As adult decision makers creating areas for children we need to remind ourselves that our needs might not be the same as the children's needs.

The play space should be a balanced area welcoming all users - but the children come first! Playgrounds should be evident signals for play, to remind our children of the fact that they are welcome, also in the public sphere.
