Rodington Play Area, Telford

Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire

Telford and Wrekin Council required a beautiful wooden playground to complement Rodington play area’s village location.

Project Brief
Rodington play area's surroundings meant that in 2010, the site needed a more natural aesthetic to satisfy the Government Playbuilder's funding programme. This required a primarily wooden construction to bring the play area in keeping with the rural village location on the outskirts of Telford.

Separately, in July 2016, Telford and Wrekin Council asked KOMPAN to extend the bark surface area and add a hardwood junior slide.

The Result
KOMPAN installed play products from the hardwood range - perfect for their beauty and hardwearing and sustainable properties. KOMPAN also shaped bark-surfaced areas to create natural levees and berms for natural play, and to create interest through subtle changes to the land form. The play equipment is stimulating and appealing to teens and primarily to children aged between 8 and 12.

Testimonial
"The additional slide has increase the capacity of the play area and provided an additional item for the younger age ranges; as the original Playbuilder project was primarily for an older age range."
