Manor Green School cater for children aged 2-11 years who have learning difficulties or additional needs. The school set out with the challenge of installing playground equipment which would benefit users of a wide range of different abilities, both physically and mentally.
With the schools requirements in mind it was also essential for KOMPAN to adhere to playground safety standards. Allowing children to experience risk in a moderated way was very important to Manor Green School, as many of the children have no sense of danger.

The play opportunity at Manor Green has improved tremendously, with ramp access to play houses and sand and water play areas; there is opportunity for physical, cognitive, sensory and imaginative play, whilst giving the children the opportunity to socialise through all play activities.
“With all of our considerations in mind it was important for us to choose a company that had a long pedigree and extensive experience not just in delivering playgrounds, but within SEN settings.
We invited three companies to design and quote. KOMPAN by far understood our requirements the best and therefore designed the most innovative solution for us and our children.
KOMPAN’s installation has really helped the children physically and socially, becoming more active and playing in constructive, positive ways. Some of the autistic children communicate and socialise through the play activities because of the way the design allows them to engage with each other through play, irrespective of their ability. We would certainly recommend KOMPAN to other schools.”
