Working with the University Campus Sports team, together we created a versatile fitness area that provides a fantastic outdoor space for students to be healthy and active. The new facility provides a unique space to develop a performance sport at the University of Sussex.

The facility will support student athletes as they develop their strength and conditioning, helping the Student Sports Clubs consistently climb the British Universities and Sports (BUCS) rankings year on year. As well as providing a great space for non-active students and members of staff to learn about training and how best to use the facility, the Campus Sports Team will be offering boot camps, circuit training, and body weight workouts with guidance from top instructors.

The equipment comprises of a boot camp base frame with accessories including; dip bars, parallel bars, steps, as well as sports markings on artificial grass and rubber wetpour. All of which offers scalability in training to provide a facility that can support student and staff of all ages and abilities to meet their health and fitness goals.

“We were looking for an outdoor fitness area to help meet the demands of a busy fitness room, support our student teams and to provide students somewhere to be active.

We met with a couple of companies, but Kompan had great experience with using outside spaces and were as excited as us about the project and they won the project.

They supplied great visuals which allowed us to get a real feel for how the space would look and were able to work with us on making the space bespoke to our needs.

The installation was quick and seamless and the final outcome met our expectations, the flooring and equipment looks great and the Initial feedback from users via our social media channels and in person has been great and we are looking forward to the area being used during this forthcoming academic year.”
