Rotherham MBC Landscape Team worked with Neighbourhoods & Housing to refurbish and re-develop the existing community play area at Woodland Drive, North Anston.
The play area was designed and installed to comply with all relevant current legislation, including BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177. The proposal provided an accessible and inclusive play area within the available footprint. From the 10 design principles as described by Play England for the creation of Successful Play Spaces the key considerations our design addressed included an area specifically designed for the site, which was well located and made use of natural elements. The area had to provide a wide range of play opportunities and be accessible to both disabled and non-disabled children. Doing this would ensure it met community needs and maximise play value.
